Already in prison for a year on a gun charge, Lil’ Wayne recently partook in a live video feed to change his plea in a drugs and gun case in Yuma County, Arizona.
According to Yuma Sun, the “A Milli” singer could avoid jail time in Arizona after he changed his not-guilty plea to guilty on one count of possession of a dangerous drug.
The plea is an attempt to wrap up a case that stems from a January 22, 2008, incident in which Wayne’s tour bus was stopped at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint and just over an ounce of cocaine, nearly four ounces of marijuana, 41 grams of Ecstasy, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and a .40-caliber handgun registered to Wayne were discovered on his tour bus.
The Sun reported that he could receive up to 36 months of probation on the Yuma charges, beginning after his New York sentence ends. As part of the plea deal, charges of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia are expected to be dismissed when Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves sentences the rapper on June 30.
